CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
- Harvard senior co-captain Sam Slaughter has been
named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association
(NEILA) All-New England Senior Scholar-Athlete team, the NEILA
announced Wednesday afternoon.
The group consists of 19 student-athletes from nine different
schools and acknowledges graduating seniors who have earned at
least a 3.0 grade-point average and have excelled on the field.
Slaughter, an Academic All-Ivy League choice in 2008, earned his
second straight All-Ivy second-team honors this spring after
finishing third on the Crimson with 27 ground balls. A
defender from Wilton, Conn., Slaughter, an engineering sciences
concentrator, started all 13 games, helping Harvard rank third in
the nation in scoring defense (6.69 goals allowed per game) and
finish with an 8-5 overall record for the program's first winning
season since 2004.
A two-time NEILA All-New England selection, including a
first-team honoree this season, Slaughter will play in the 68th
United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)
North/South All-Star Game, to be held at Harvard Stadium May 22.
