CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The rain could wait no longer Monday night, and neither could the Crimson. After 101 minutes of soccer, sophomore Alexandra Conigliaro punched in a cross from senior Katherine Sheeleigh to give the Crimson a 1-0 double-overtime win over visiting Quinnipiac, and just as the ball hit the net to end the game, the rain began to come down.

Sheeleigh broke down the sideline on a run from midfield with the ball at her feet. Once she neared the goalkeeper box, she turned in and fired a cross along the ground that went past three other players before it found Conigliaro. The sophomore made one touch to settle the ball, then buried it beyond a diving Kendra Margulies of Quinnipiac (5-7-3) to move Harvard back above .500 at 7-6-1 overall.

Harvard appeared to have a go-ahead goal with six minutes left to play in regulation, but it was negated by an offsides call just feet from the baseline of the field. Conigliaro put a ball just inside the left post on a cross inside the box from junior Melanie Baskind for an apparent 1-0 Crimson lead, but it did not stand. Conigliaro would get another chance, though.

The Crimson fired 31 shots in the game to the Bobcats' four. However, it was Harvard's first and only shot in the second overtime, No. 31 in the game, which made the difference. The Crimson dominated possession in the first half, keeping the ball on its side of the pitch nearly the entire time and outshooting the Bobcats, 15-2. Harvard also controlled the corner kicks in the game, notching 10 in the first half alone on its way to a 14-1 advantage for the night.

Harvard heads back on the road to continue Ivy League play with a visit to Dartmouth at 4 p.m. Saturday.
