NORTON, Mass. -- The Harvard women's water polo
team fell to Brown, 14-10, at Wheaton College to close out the
regular season. The Crimson moves to 12-12 on the season and ends
CWPA Northern Division play with a 1-3 mark in the conference.
Brown ups its record to 19-13 on the year and 1-3 in the Northern
Division.
Brown climbed out to a 3-1 lead at the first intermission that
it would not let up. The Bears increased its advantage to 7-1 with
two and a half minutes remaining in the half. Harvard buried two
goals in the final minutes before halftime to make the score 7-3 at
the break. The two squads traded scores in the third quarter to
keep the Brown lead to four, 9-5. The Crimson offense heated up in
the final period, tallying five goals. The Bears matched Harvard
with five scores of their own.
Aisha
Price lead the offensive attack with four goals. Ita
Barton-Kettleborough registered a hat trick while Devan
Kennifer netted a pair of goals. Shannon
Purcell rounded out the scoring, finding the back of the net
once in the contest.
Harvard will now await the announcement of the
field for the Eastern Championships. The Crimson will
need an at-large bid to compete at the tournament. The event will
be held April 30-May 2 at College Park, Md.
