CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's golf team welcomed two recruits to the class of 2014 in an announcement from Director of Golf Fred Schernecker.

Bonnie Hu (Fremont, Calif.) and Fritzi Reuter (Leonberg, Germany) will join the Crimson this fall as it begins workout at the illustrious The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. The two newcomers will give the Crimson seven members on the roster while fellow freshman Julie MacDonell (Sayville, N.Y.) will also compete for a roster spot during the fall.

“We are excited to have a deep freshman class joining us,” said Schernecker. “The strength of the incoming class is a further reflection of our continued progress as a program. The group is the most decorated in recent memory and is especially noteworthy that, for the second year in a row, we have an incoming player in Bonnie Hu who was an HP Scholastic Junior All-American.”

Hu earned honors in both 2008 and 2009.

Only 12 girls and 12 boys receive the HP Scholastic Junior All-America honor each season. Harvard now boasts 10 such awardees all-time with seven currently on the Crimson men's and women's rosters (Louis Amira, Christine Cho, Mark Pollak, Bonnie Hu, Katie Sylvan, Seiji Liu and Theodore Lederhausen). Liu and Lederhausen also bring significant other credentials to the golf course as Harvard strengthens its position as the leading program in the region.

Hu finished her high school career ranked ninth in the country in the class of 2010 by National Junior Golf Scoreboard. She collected a pair of AJGA victories in 2009  with titles at the Under Armour/Hunter Mahan Championship and the AJGA Northeast Open. She was also the 2009 San Francisco City Championship Women's Champion.

In 2008, Hu was selected by the USGA to be part of the eight-person team representing the United State in the US-China Junior Championship in Beijing, China. That year she qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links and made it to the round of 32 in the 2010 tournament. Hu was also valedictorian of Mission San Jose High School.

Reuter earned numerous accolades while at the Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium in Leonberg, Germany. She took part in two national championships in 2007 and 2008 with a third place individual finish in 2008. From 2002 to 2007 she was the Baden-Wuerttemberg State Champion in several age groups.

Reuter also took her game to other regions of Europe, bringing home a ninth place finish at the French Juniors in 2009 and a seventh place finish at The Junior Open in 2006.

While in high school, Reuter teamed with current Harvard teammate and the 2009 Ivy League Rookie of the Year Katie Sylvan '13 at Francis Parker High School during a year of study abroad in 2007-2008 with a scholarship from ASSIST.
