BOSTON – The Harvard women's hockey team announced the captains of the 2012-13 team, as well as the team award winners for the 2011-12 season at its annual awards banquet, held March 24 at the Harvard Club of Boston.

After serving as assistant captains during the 2011-12 campaign, goalie Laura Bellamy and defenseman Josephine Pucci will be captains during their senior seasons. Classmate and forward Jillian Dempsey was also named a captain for the 2012-13 season and received team Most Valuable Player honors at the banquet. Sophomore Lyndsey Fry took home the Most Improved Player award and senior captain Alisa Baumgartner was named the John Dooley Award recipient.

Dempsey was Harvard's top scorer in 2011-12, finishing the season with 48 points on 27 goals and 21 assists. She was a Patty Kazmaier Award nominee and earned first-team All-ECAC Hockey and unanimous first-team All-Ivy League accolades. She was also named a finalist for ECAC Player of the Year. Dempsey scored two hat tricks on the season, including a five-goal game against Princeton where she came within one goal of tying the NCAA record for goals in a contest.

Bellamy was an integral part of the Crimson's 22-win season, posting the second-highest number of shutouts in a season in team history with seven. She moved into third place on the all-time list with 14 career shutouts and garnered All-Ivy League honorable mention accolades following the 2011-12 season.

Pucci anchored a stingy Crimson defense and ranked 10th in the nation among defensemen with 0.81 points per contest. A Patty Kazmaier Award nominee, Pucci earned a spot on the New England Hockey Writers All-Star team, received All-ECAC second team honors and was a finalist for the league's Best Defensive Defenseman award.

Fry received the Most Improved Player award after a strong offensive year for the Crimson. Fry eclipsed the 40-point barrier with 22 goals and 20 assists, up from her rookie season totals of 11 points on six goals and five helpers. Fry became the first Harvard skater since Sarah Vaillancourt '08-09 in 2006, to record back-to-back hat tricks, netting four goals in the regular season finale against Yale and scoring three in Game 1 of the ECAC quarterfinals against Princeton.

Baumgartner received the John Dooley Award, given to the player who best combines sportsmanship, enthusiasm and devotion to hockey. Baumgartner, the lone senior on the 2011-12 squad, battled through an injury that sidelined her for the first half of the season to be a contributor down the stretch. She scored a goal in her first game back from injury and finished the season with four points on two goals and two helpers.
