Men's Basketball Tips Off Season at Crimson Madness Live on ESPN3

Okolie won his second straight Crimson Madness dunk contest (Elan Kawesch).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's basketball team tipped off its 2014-15 season Friday night with its annual Crimson Madness event, broadcast live on ESPN3 as part of ESPN's Midnight Madness coverage.

The night featured a dunk contest, 3-point competition and intrasquad scrimmage, giving fans their first glimpse of the Crimson. Harvard also welcomed several special guests to the event, with Jared Sullinger of the Boston Celtics and Randall L. Kennedy, the Michael R. Klein Professor of Law, helping to judge the dunk contest. Adding to the excitement was "Coach" Willie Maye, the Celtics in-arena host at TD Garden and special guest Emcee for the evening.

For the second straight year, Agunwa Okolie took the dunk contest title, defeating Zena Edosomwan by a score of 35-30 in the final round. Okolie stole a page from last year's competition with a windmill 360 to reach the finals, and won it all using another windmill.

Edosomwan hurdled 6-9 Chris Egi and 6-6 Charlie Anastasi in the first round, drawing a perfect score of 40 from the judges. He was unable to duplicate the feat in the finals, however, giving the contest to Okolie. Wesley Saunders, Egi and Jonah Travis also competed in the dunk contest, with Okolie needing to best Saunders in a first round dunk-off to reach the finals.

The 3-point competition went to Corbin Miller who knocked down 10-of-15 shots from behind the arc. Siyani Chambers took second, with Steve Moundou-Missi and Andre Chatfield also in the field.

It was the Black team which came out on top in the Crimson and Black scrimmage, 36-27, overcoming an early 17-11 deficit for the win. Kenyatta Smith led the Black team with 11 points, including seven during the team's comeback. Corbin Miller knocked down three 3-pointers for nine points, with Okolie adding seven.

Edosomwan netted 11 of the Crimson team's 27 points, while Moundou-Missi chipped in five and Saunders tallied four.
