Moundou-Missi's career-high 14 rebounds helped the Crimson to a 43-32 advantage on the glass (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Wesley Saunders and Steve Moundou-Missi each recorded a double-double to lead the Harvard men's basketball team past Houston Tuesday night at Lavietes Pavilion, 84-63.

Saunders' double-double was his third in four games as he contributed a game-high 24 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. This marks the fourth straight game he has led Harvard (3-1) in scoring, becoming the first member of the Crimson to do so since Jeremy Lin '10 did it in five straight games in 2009-10. Moundou-Missi, meanwhile, turned in 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed a career-high 14 boards.

Siyani Chambers and Corbin Miller each added 12 points, with Chambers also dishing out five assists and Miller going 4-of-6 from beyond-the-arc. Harvard finished the game shooting 52.8 percent (28-53) from the floor, was 22-of-26 at the line and outrebounded Houston (2-1) by a 43-32 spread.

The Cougars scored the bulk of their points from 3-point range, combining to go 10-of-25 from deep but just 11-of-38 from inside the arc. Eric Weary, Jr., led the way with 19 points, including 3 3-pointers.

Saunders scored four of Harvard's first six points to help the team to a 6-3 lead at the first media timeout. A Chambers 3 and Evan Cummins putback forced Houston to call a timeout of its own, but it did not slow down the Crimson offense as a pair of Zena Edosomwan baskets moved the score to 15-6. The Cougars used the long-ball to stay within striking distance before back-to-back baskets by Saunders extended the lead to 26-15.

Houston cut its deficit to 34-28 with a 7-2 stretch, but Miller's 3-pointer to beat the buzzer sent Harvard into the intermission in front by nine, 43-34. Saunders led the Crimson with 12 points and six rebounds at the break, as the team combined to shoot 55.6 percent while going 10-of-10 at the line. The Cougars hit six 3-pointers to remain in the game, but made just 5-of-21 shots from inside the arc.

Saunders scored five points in the first 39 seconds of the second half to extend Harvard's margin to 48-34. Steve Moundou-Missi brought the crowd to its feet with a two-handed putback, and another made 3 by Miller capped off a 17-6 run to begin the half and give the Crimson a 20-point margin, 60-40.

Another 3-pointer by Houston made it a 62-48 game but Harvard answered right back with five unanswered points to extend the lead back to 67-48. A pair of and-ones for Saunders and Cummins gave Harvard a 78-54 edge, and Carlie Anastasi capped the scoring off for the Crimson with a pair at the line.
