Harvard Cricket Impresses at ACC National Championships

The Harvard cricket team capped off a record-breaking season at the ACC National Championships (Harvard Athletic Communications).

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– The Harvard club cricket team posted a strong showing at the 2017 American College Cricket Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after earning both the Ivy League Championship and Regional Championship for the first time in program history. The Crimson collected three wins in the group stages to secure its first-ever berth in the quarterfinals at the ACC Nationals, before bowing out to the eventual national champs, Ryerson.

Harvard had one of its most successful years since the program was recently revamped, and it showed how far the club has come in a short amount of time. The Crimson rolled through the Ivies and Regionals, becoming the first cricket squad to win both in the same season in Harvard history.

Harvard continued its momentum with wins over Northern Illinois, Florida and Toledo in the group stages of the ACC National Championship to qualify for the national quarterfinals, another first for the Crimson. Harvard was eventually upended in a hard-fought contest in the quarterfinals by Ryerson, who would eventually go on to claim the 2017 national title.

The Crimson hopes to build on the quarterfinal showing as it becomes more prominent on the national cricket scene. For more information on the team, click here.
