Harvard outshot Colgate 51-21 on the night, but fell to the Raiders, 2-0, at Bright-Landry Hockey Center (Gil Talbot)

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time in seven years, Harvard men's ice hockey (9-8-4, 8-5-3 ECAC Hockey) was shutout in consecutive games, as Colgate (11-11-4, 7-6-1 ECAC Hockey) earned a 2-0 win over the Crimson in front of a sellout crowd at Bright-Landry Hockey Center.

Harvard put up a season high 51 shots on net, but Colgate goaltender Colton Point had a career night between the pipes.

The Crimson put shots on Point from all directions beginning in the first period, but it was Colgate that struck first, as Willie Brooks' drive from the point put the Raiders up 1-0 at 15:26 of the first period.

Senior goaltender Merrick Madsen (19 saves) came up with perhaps his best save of the night on Bobby McMann's breakaway early in the second period, sliding to the left post for glove save on McMann's backhander at 4:03.

Harvard outshout Colgate 19-9 in the period, really putting the pressure on in the middle frame. Freshman forward Jack Badini made a great offensive play, passing the puck to himself behind the Colgate net, and skating out in front for a jam attempt, but Point made the pad save at the 10:20 mark.

Late in the period senior Lewis Zerter-Gossage nearly put a rebound chance past Point, but the Colgate goaltender fell backwards and covered the puck in the crease at the 18:53 mark.

The Raiders took a commanding two-goal lead on McMann's power play goal at 1:51 of the third period, and the Crimson could not solve Point the rest of the way.

Game Notes:

• Harvard was shutout in consecutive games for the first time since Feb. 4-7, 2011 in losses to Yale (L, 1-0) and Northeastern (L, 4-0).
• Senior goaltender Merrick Madsen allowed two goals or less for the third time in the last four starts.
• Senior forward Jake Horton led Harvard with a game-high seven shots on net.

Harvard heads to Dartmouth to close out the season series against the Big Green next Friday night with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
