No. 18 Men's Ice Hockey Falls, 7-2, to No. 7 Boston College in Beanpot Consolation Game

BOSTON, Mass.. – Sophomore forwards Casey Dornbach and R.J. Murphy scored, but No. 18 Harvard men's ice hockey (11-8-4) fell, 7-2, to No. 7 Boston College (17-8-1) on Monday night (Feb. 10) in the Beanpot consolation game at TD Garden.

BC outshot Harvard, 37-28, for the game, but the Crimson held the Eagles scoreless on five power play chances, while going 1-for-2 on the man advantage themselves.

Dornbach put Harvard up early on the power play, taking a high-low pass from sophomore defenseman Jack Rathbone and depositing a one-timer into the top corner at 2:13 to make it 1-0 Harvard.

But the Eagles responded in the late stages of the period, as David Cotton (14:11) and Jack McBain (17:19) each scored right outside the blue paint to give the Eagles the lead at the first intermission.

BC potted four goals in the second period to put the game out of reach, as Logan Hutsko scored on  partial breakaway at 5:53. Then the Eagles added shorthanded goals at 12:22 (Alex Newhook) and 13:41 (Jack McBain) to make it 5-1.

Sophomore forward R.J. Murphy answered with a wrist shot over the glove of Spencer Knight at 13:54, but the Eagles closed the period with a 2-on-1 goal from Matt Boldy at 19:35 o take a 6-2 lead.

Harvard outshot Boston College, 11-7, in the final period of play, but the Eagles extended their lead on Mike Hardman's goal at 5:16 of the third period to account for the final score. 

Game Notes
- Sophomore forward Casey Dornbach (goal) has set a career high for points and now has 30 (11 goals, 19 assists) on the season.
- First-year forward Nick Abruzzese (assist) now has 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in his last 10 games.
- Harvard's power play added another power play goal, and the Crimson has now scored at least one power play goal in 19 of 23 games this season.
