CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore defenseman Jack Rathbone scored a first period goal, but No. 18 Harvard men's ice hockey (11-8-6, 9-4-5 ECAC Hockey) had to settle for a 1-1 tie against Brown (6-17-2, 6-10-2 ECAC Hockey) at Bright-Landry Hockey Center on Saturday night (Feb. 15).

First-year goaltender Mitchell Gibson made 26 saves, as Harvard outshot Brown 31-27 for the night. Gibson's counterpart Gavin Nieto stopped 30 shots for the Bears.

Rathbone got things started early for the Crimson, as Harvard scored on its first shift of the game to take an early lead. Sophomore forward Jack Drury found a trailing Rathbone at the left point, and his one-timer beat Nieto over the glove at :36 to put Harvard ahead 1-0.

The score remained that way until 5:06 of the second period, when Drury hooked Joachim Weberg on a partial breakaway and a penalty shot was called. Weberg beat Gibson on the ensuing chance, tying the game at 1-1.

Midway through the third period, Harvard had a five-minute power play opportunity after a major penalty on Colin Burston after a hit from behind on Drury. But Harvard could not convert on the man advantage.

In overtime, both John Farinacci and Jack Badini had great chances for the Crimson, Farinacci on a wraparound and Badini on a shot that trickled just wide of the goal.

With the tie, Harvard remains in fourth place in the ECAC Hockey standings with 23 points, four ahead of Colgate and Rensselaer and one point behind Quinnipiac. The top four teams in the ECAC Hockey standings receive a first-round bye and home ice in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals.

- Sophomore forward Jack Drury (assist) has 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) in 12 games since returning from Team USA at the World Junior Tournament on Jan. 4.
- Sophomore defenseman Jack Rathbone (goal) has points in three straight games (two goals, three assists). Rathbone (6-17-23) has a new single-season high for points.
- First-year goaltender Mitchell Gibson has allowed one goal or less in six starts this season.
