BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Three members of the Harvard women's water polo team received All-America honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, the league announced today, April 27. Senior captain Sofia Carrera-Justiz and sophomores Zoe Banks and Grace Thawley each earned honorable mention recognition. This marks the first time in program history that three or more players have earned All-America honors.

Carrera-Justiz totaled 27 goals, 22 assists, 16 steals, five blocks and three DKOs during the shortened 2020 season. Leading the team in goals and assists, the attacker moved into seventh place in program history with 157 career goals and second in assists with 161. The Coral Gables, Fla. native also ranks second in program history with 31 total career blocks. This is the first All-America honor for Carrera-Justiz.

Earning her first All-American recognition, Banks led the team with 79 saves during the 2020 season, while also adding eight assists and 11 steals. The Palo Alto, Calif. native tied a career high with 13 saves against No. 18 Wagner on Feb. 2 and was named CWPA Defensive Player of the Week on March 10. After only two years with the Crimson, Banks already ranks fourth in career saves with 206.

This also marks the first All-America honor for Thawley, who totaled 20 goals, four assists, nine steals and 17 DKOs this past season. The Santa Ana, Calif. native found the back of the net six times, including scoring the game-winning goal, against No. 25 Cal State East Bay at the Harvard Invite on March 8, and was subsequently awarded CWPA Player of the Week honors for her performance. Thawley is currently ranked first in program history with 77 career DKOs.
