New Haven, Conn. – Rounds of 299-303-308 gave Harvard women's golf a seventh-place finish among 11 teams at the Yale Invitational this weekend, Oct. 9-10. Playing at Yale Golf Club, the Crimson posted a 54-hole total of 58-over-par 910.
Sophomore
Isabella Gomez was Harvard's low individual at 5-over-par, good enough for seventh place. It was the first collegiate top-10 for the Colombia native, who has now closed as the Crimson's low scorer in all three of its tournaments this fall. Senior
Chloe Royston grabbed a spot in the top-20 as well, shooting 13-over to tie for 18th. Royston was followed by sophomore
Meiyi Yan (+22, T38), senior
Anina Ku (+23, T44) and sophomore
Yoona Kim (+24, 46).
Harvard Highlights
- Gomez racked up 12 birdies in the tournament, the most of any player in the field.
- Harvard made 30 birdies as a team on the weekend, tied for the fourth most of any team.
- Gomez, Royston and Ku were counting scores for the Crimson in all three tournament rounds.
- After rounds of 75-73-70, Gomez's scoring average on the season sits at a team-best 73.33.
- Gomez tied for the field's third lowest score in the final round, carding a 1-under-par 70. It was the second round under par this year for the sophomore.
Tournament Notes:
- The city of Boston enjoyed a strong showing at the event with Boston College winning the team title at 14-over-par and Boston University tying for second at 25-over.
- Nathalie Kawasaki of Boston College claimed individual honors by a five-shot margin, shooting seven-under-par for the tournament
- Yale Golf Course played to a par 71 at 5,972 yards.
