Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Earns Road Win at UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. – Harvard men's basketball first-year guard Denham Wojcik hit a three-pointer with 2:45 left in the second half to break a 44-all tie and the Crimson never looked back en route to a 60-53 road victory at UAlbany.

With the win, the Crimson moves to 2-1 on the year. The Great Danes, meanwhile, drop to 0-3.

Harvard appeared ready to run away with the game early, leading by double digits for most of the first half, with Idan Tretout giving the Crimson a 24-11 lead with 5:46 remaining in the frame. UAlbany, however, did not allow the visitors to run away, scoring nine unanswered points to help the Great Danes get within four points, 26-22, at intermission.

When play resumed, the teams traded buckets until Luka Sakota nailed a trey to push Harvard ahead, 29-26. The triple was part of a 10-3 run, including seven straight for the Crimson, which put Harvard up, 36-29, with just over 15 minutes to play.

Like the first half, UAlbany fought back, eventually tying the game, but took nearly 12 minutes to do so. With the teams deadlocked at 44, Wojcik provided the dagger with his only points of the night. The Great Danes kept the score close in the final moments only to have Harvard respond by making 11-of-12 free throws, including eight straight by Noah Kirkwood to seal the outcome.
