CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University women's soccer first-year defender Jade Rose has earned recognition as the 2021 Canada Soccer Youth Player of the Year for her performance and progress as part of Canada Soccer's National Team program, Canada Soccer announced on Tuesday evening.

A native of Markham, Ontario, Rose earned First Team All-Ivy, First Team All-East Region, and Top Drawer Soccer First-year Best XI First Team honors in her rookie campaign. She played in and started 15 games as a center back, ranking second on the team in minutes played (1,309). Rose played 90 or more minutes in each of 12 games and tallied four points on two goals on the year. She helped the Crimson post six shutouts as a team on the season.

Rose made her debut with the Canada Soccer senior national team in February at the SheBelieves Cup in a 1-0 win over Argentina and featured in her second international match just three days later against Brazil. Following the SheBelieves Cup, she spent time with Canada Soccer's Super REX Ontario. Rose has also played for Canada's national teams at the U15, U17, and U20 levels.

In 2021, Harvard earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Championship, making its 17th all-time NCAA appearance. Harvard posted a 12-3-1 overall record in 2021, earning rankings as high as No. 4 in the NCAA RPI, No. 8 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll, and No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches rankings.
