HAMILTON, N.Y. – Adding another dominant win to its tally this week, the Harvard women's basketball team (5-6, 0-0 Ivy League) took down Colgate, 93-53, on the road today, Dec. 21.
Four Crimson players recorded double-digit points against the Raiders, led by first-year
Harmoni Turner for the second-straight game with 19 points. Junior
McKenzie Forbes (15), sophomore
Lola Mullaney (14) and junior
Maggie McCarthy (10) each reached double figures as well. Defensively, Turner nearly notched her second consecutive double-double, falling just shy with a team-best eight rebounds. Turner and junior
Annie Stritzel led the way with five steals apiece, contributing to a team total 23.
The Crimson jumped out to an early 8-0 lead behind back-to-back triples from Forbes and Turner, along with a pair of free throws from McCarthy. Sussman added a triple to maintain the Crimson's advantage, as a 5-0 run extended Harvard's lead to 19-3. Another three pointer from Mullaney, with buckets from Turner, Sussman and McCarthy, put the Crimson up 28-11 at the end of the opening frame.
Colgate cut its deficit to 13 at the start of the second quarter. Harvard dominated the remainder of the period, holding the Raiders scoreless for nearly six minutes. Two triples from Turner, combined with baskets from Forbes, Mullaney and
Lindsey Lawson, gave the Crimson a 31-point lead at 48-17.
Elle Stauffer and Stritzel added buckets near the end of the frame, pushing the Crimson ahead 53-26 heading into halftime.
Forbes netted four points to open the third quarter, before the teams traded baskets as Colgate came within 22 at 60-38. Harvard used a 4-0 run to widen its margin to 30 at 68-36 after baskets from Turner, McCarthy, Stritzel and Forbes. The Crimson's offensive surge continued, taking a 75-43 lead into the final frame.
Baskets from
Elena Rodriguez, Stauffer and Stritzel helped Harvard build a 32-point lead at 81-49 to begin quarter four. A 4-0 run from the Crimson, highlighted by two triples from
Sara Park, propelled Harvard to a 91-49 lead midway through the frame. The Crimson's defense held the Raiders to eight points in the fourth quarter, as Harvard went on to seal a 93-53 victory.

- Harvard went 37-for-72 from the field (51.4 percent) and 9-for-17 from behind the arc (52.9 percent), its second highest percentages of the season for both marks.
- Turner shot 8-for-13 from field goal range and 3-for-5 on three pointers, her best field goal percentage on the season.
- The Crimson tallied a season-high 23 steals.
- Harvard dished out 18 assists, led by Mullaney and Turner with four apiece.
- The Crimson outrebounded the Raiders, 36-32, and scored 57 points off turnovers.
