Men’s Basketball Announces Its Class of 2025

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.Tommy Amaker, The Thomas G. Stemberg '71 Family Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Basketball, The James Herscot '58 Coach of Excellence, has announced the program's Class of 2025. Louis Lesmond, Bennett Pitcher, Tyler Simon and Denham Wojcik are scheduled to arrive in Cambridge in time for 2021-22 academic year.
 
The quartet is comprised of three guards and one forward, and hails from three different states and France. Pitcher, a 6-9 forward, is coming to Harvard from nearby Deerfield, while guards Simon and Wojcik will make the trip to New England from Houston, Texas and Charleston, South Carolina, respectively. Lesmond, meanwhile, is from Paris, France, but finished his prep career in Illinois.
 
The incoming group is considered one of the strongest in the country, landing at No. 50 in 247Sports' team rankings. Rivals.com has Harvard 55th nationally with Florida and Tulsa. Both ratings (as of May 18) are tops in the Ivy League.

Before Harvard:
Attended INSEP in France and Evanston Township High in Illinois before arriving at Notre Dame College Prep in 2019… Played varsity every season as a prep athlete and was team captain at Notre Dame College Prep in 2020-21… Helped Notre Dame College Prep to the conference championship in each of his two seasons (2019-20, 2020-21)… Voted to the all-area first team and to the all-conference squad in '19-20 and '20-21… Earned conference player-of-the-year honors… Named the MVP at Battle of the Bridge and the Wheeling Tournament after the team captured both titles… Played on the AAU circuit for the Illinois Wolves in 2018-19… Named an honors student in 2018-19 at ETHS and in 2019-20 at Notre Dame College Prep… Father, David, played basketball at Purdue and professionally in France… Mother, Vanessa, played professional basketball in France.
 
Bennett Pitcher

Before Harvard:
A two-sport star in basketball and football… Started all four seasons for the varsity hoops team and three years for the football squad, lining up at tight end and defensive end… Named a NEPSAC Class A All-League performer three times in basketball and football… Interests include tending to an extensive collection of reptiles and fish, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers… Father, Conrad, competed for the Princeton track and field team… Mother, Heidi Valk, played lacrosse and soccer at Mount Holyoke College.
 
Tyler Simon
Houston, Texas (Dream City Christian School)

Before Harvard:
Attended Heights High School for three years before finishing at Dream City Christian School… Played varsity all four years between both schools… Served as team captain at Heights High in 2019-20… Named team MVP (2018-20) and was an all-academic team selection at HHS… Competed on the AAU circuit for Basketball University (Adidas Gauntlet)… Enjoys bowling, pool and playing games in his spare time.
 
Denham Wojcik
Charleston, S.C. (Porter-Gaud School)
G, 6-1, 170
Before Harvard:
Started and finished prep career at Porter-Gaud School in South Carolina, while attending La Lumiere School in Indiana for 10th and 11th grade… Started on varsity at Porter-Gaud as an eighth-grader and started every prep year after that… Served as team captain for La Lumiere in 2019-20 and Porter-Gaud in 2020-21… Named to the 2021 SCISA All-Tournament Team and invited to the SCISA State All-Star Game… Earned WCIV-Charleston Scholar-Athlete of the Week during the 2020-21 campaign… Helped Porter-Gaud to state titles in 2016-17 and 2017-18, and La Lumiere to a runner-up effort at GEICO Nationals in 2018-19, a season in which it finished 30-1… Played for the Illinois Wolves on the AAU circuit from 2018-20… Competed for the Porter-Gaud track and field team as a senior and was part of the 4x400 relay team that set the school record (3:29.48)…. Earned a spot in the Latin Honor Society and finished Maxima Cum Laude on the National Latin Exam in 10th grade… Collected La Lumiere's Scholar Athlete and Laker Award in the 11th grade, while being recognized for excellence in the study of Hyphenated America… Participated in the La Lumiere Yoga Club and volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club of South Bend in his final year in Indiana… Enjoys video games, custom shoes and Naruto… Father, Doug, played basketball at Navy and was the captain for the 1985-86 Elite Eight team… Mother, Lael, played basketball and ran track at Navy… Brother, Paxson, played basketball at Loyola Chicago.
