Box Score PRINCETON, N.J. – A
Brooke Jovanovich goal at 19:41 in the second period was the lone score of the night as No. 9/9 Harvard (13-5-0, 10-3-0 ECAC Hockey) won its seventh consecutive ECAC Hockey game, shutting out Princeton (8-8-3, 6-5-1 ECAC Hockey), 1-0 on Friday night at Hobey Baker Memorial Ice Rink.
Crimson goaltender
Becky Dutton had another outstanding performance in net, posting her second straight shutout and fourth consecutive win. Dutton moves to 8-2-0 on the season with a 1.40 GAA and .939 save percentage. She had 29 saves in the game.
Despite each team having several quality scoring chances, zeros remained on the scoreboard for more than 39 minutes before Harvard tallied what would be the game's only goal. Senior
Dominique Petrie carried the puck into the offensive zone, where she dropped it off to Jovanovich. The senior winger proceeded to skate around her marker and elevate a brilliant backhand shot past Tigers' goalie Rachel McQuigge.
Both squads managed eight shots on goal in the final frame, but none of the attempts made it past the two netminders. A hooking call on Harvard's
Anne Bloomer with 1:33 remaining in the game granted the Tigers a prime opportunity to level matters late, but the home team was unable to score despite pulling their goalie for a six-on-four advantage.
