CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's soccer team (7-0-2, 1-0-1 Ivy) ran away with a 6-0 win over its rival Yale Bulldogs tonight to remain unbeaten.
Six different players notched goals and ten players scored points for the Crimson in the victory.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- The Harvard defense did not allow a single shot in the first half of play
- Hannah Bebar scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season
- The sophomore also leads the team with 15 points on the year
- Bebar also notched her team-leading sixth assist of the season
- Hollyn Torres scored her first goal of the season later in the first half
- Josefine Hasbo scored the third goal in the second half, her fourth of the season
- Hasbo also dished out an assist in the contest
- Ava Lung scored her first goal of the seaon in the 58th minute
- Ainsley Ahmadian also chipped in with a goal, her fifth of the year
- Taylor Fasnacht notched her first point of the season with an assist on the Torres goal
- Asluag Gunnlaugsdottir recorded two assists on the day
- Hannah Griffin scored the final goal of the contest in the 87th minute
- Ten members of the Crimson recorded a point and six different players scored goals
- Harvard improves to 38-0-1 in its past 39 games where it scores three or more goals
- This is Harvard's fourth straight shutout over Yale
- Yale did not record a single shot or shot on goal in the contest
- This was the most goals scored since 2014 and the most goals scored under Chris Hamblin, The Branca Family Head Coach for Harvard women's soccer
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harvard took control of the contest early, scoring a goal in the fourth minute. Hannah Bebar bent a corner kick around the post to put Harvard in the lead early on.
- Hollyn Torres scored the second goal of the game off a rebound
- At the end of the first half, Harvard led in all offensive categories including shots (13-0), shots on goal (7-0) and corner kicks (5-0).
- Josie Hasbo increased the Harvard lead early in the second half with her fourth goal of the season at 56:44.
- Senior Captain, Ava Lung, scored her first goal of the season just 52 seconds later to put Harvard up, 4-0.
- In the 65th minutes, Ainsley Ahmadian buried a shot in the back of the net, scoring her fifth goal of the season.
- Hannah Griffin scored the final goal of the game in the 87th minute to boost the lead to 6-0.
