Game Recap: Field Hockey |

No. 15 Field Hockey Uses Late Fourth Quarter Goal to Earn 3-2 Victory at Dartmouth

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a game deadlocked until late in the fourth quarter, No. 15 Harvard field hockey (10-3, 4-0 Ivy) emerged victorious against Dartmouth (3-9, 0-4 Ivy), 3-2, on a game-winning goal by first-year Kate Oliver with 3:13 to play.

Harvard Highlights

Faced with the unusual task of trailing early on in the contest, Harvard took no time to respond to Dartmouth's first quarter goal at the 11:14 mark.

Just over two minutes later, first-year Bronte-May Brough scored her seventh goal of the season, scoring on a shot from straight on off a penalty corner at the 8:01 mark.
In a defensive second quarter, neither team broke the deadlock, but the Crimson had three penalty corner chances and continued to carry the play.

It would take until the fourth quarter for either team to break through, and Harvard struck first to take its first lead of the game.

It was Brough who struck again for her team-leading eighth goal of the year, as a change-up shot off a penalty corner found its way past Hatley Post (nine saves) at the 7:07 mark to make it 2-1.

Dartmouth answered just over three minutes later, scoring on a deflected penalty corner with 5:00 to play in the fourth quarter to even the score.

But Harvard responded yet again, as Oliver put in a loose ball on a net front scramble with 3:13 to go to give the Crimson a hard-earned victory.
