Brynne Faltinsky tallied a career-high 13 kills, and the Crimson posted a .370 hitting percentage as a team as Harvard University women's volleyball topped Cornell University, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-15), on Friday night at Newman Arena.
The Crimson (3-11, 2-4 Ivy) hit .345 in set one, .357 in set two, and .417 in set three on the way to the conference victory over the host Big Red (3-12, 1-5 Ivy).
With the first set tied at 10-10, Harvard used a 6-1 run to pull ahead 16-11 on the way to a 25-19 set win. Facing a 13-12 deficit in set two, the Crimson registered four straight points to pull ahead 16-13 and did not trail for the remainder of the stanza in a 25-21 set win. In the final frame, Harvard took leads of 10-5 and 16-8 to propel itself to a 25-15 set three triumph.
Harvard Highlights
- First-year Brynne Faltinsky recorded a career-high 13 kills on .478 hitting alongside four digs. She posted double-figure kills for the first time this season on 23 attempts with just two errors. In the first set, she landed seven kills on .636 hitting.
- Senior Bella Almanza totaled 17 assists, seven kills, four digs, and two blocks in the match. She has posted double-figure assists in all 14 matches this year.
- Sophomore Rocky Aguirre compiled 15 assists and four digs.
- Junior Katie Vorhies notched seven kills on .385 hitting and two blocks while junior Ava Rauser added six kills on nine swings with no errors for a .667 hitting percentage.
- Sophomore Teia Piette and sophomore Lindsey Zhang contributed nine digs and seven digs respectively while junior Olivia Cooper tacked on two aces.
- Harvard improved to 29-40 all-time vs. Cornell.
