Volleyball Closes Out 2022 Season at Yale, Falls 3-0

Cambridge, Mass. – The Harvard volleyball team closed out their 2022 season at Yale on Saturday, Nov. 12. Harvard (5-17, 4-10 Ivy) was swept by Yale (21–2, 13-1 Ivy) 0-3 in three sets of 11-25, 12-25 and 20-25.

The Ivy League No. 1 ranked Yale Bulldogs started the match with a lead, making it to point six before the Crimson started to warm up and defend the Bulldogs' kills, at which point Katie Vorhies scored the first Crimson attack of the night. The rest of the set went similar to the first points, with Yale pulling away and closing it out with a 14-point margin.

Set two played out in a similar fashion, with the Bulldogs outscoring Harvard in all but one metric, that being blocks. The Crimson put up two blocks throughout the set in comparison to the Bulldogs' one. However, Harvard was unable to make the comeback they needed to win the second set.

The third set was much closer than the first two, with Harvard and Yale trading the lead for the first 15 points of the set. Harvard held a 15-14 lead after the Crimson's first aces of the match, forcing the Bulldogs to call a timeout. Yale returned from the bench with a renewed sense of determination and went on a run to beat Harvard to 20. This was followed by a Crimson run, bringing the score back within one at 19-20. At this point, Yale regained control and closed out the match, winning set three 25-20.
