SAN DIEGO, CA – Harris Walker faced off against No. 3 (Freshman/Newcomer) Michael Zheng (Columbia) in the semifinals of the singles consolation bracket. Today's contest was a rematch of the Northeast Super Regionals finals match.
The entire match was a back-and-forth battle between the two Ivy League players. Zheng was able to take the first set (6-3). Walker battled back in the second set to narrowly win (7-5) to tie up the match. The final set was back and forth the entire way until Zheng was ultimately able to pull ahead (6-4) and secure the win.
At the ITA Fall Nationals, Walker had an overall record of 2-2. After dropping his first match to No. 35 Eliot Spizzirri (Texas), and eventually tournament finalist, Walker registered outstanding results. His matches on day two and three were won with ease in straight sets and he put up an amazing battle today against Zheng. This loss officially concludes Harry Walkers incredible fall season which was made up of several deep tournament runs.
