CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – First-year goaltender Aku Koskenvuo was named on Finland's roster for the upcoming 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship, set to begin on Dec. 26 in Halifax and Moncton, New Brunswick in Canada.

Koskenvuo is Harvard's first ever representative at World Juniors from Finland, and marks the seventh straight year that the Crimson has had a player compete at the IIHF World Junior Championships.

A native of Espoo, Finland, Koskenvuo has been a regular part of the Finnish national program during his career, earning a selection to the Finland U-18 team prior to arriving at Harvard.

He has started two games at Harvard, earning his first collegiate win in his first start on Nov. 4 by making 21 saves in a 5-2 win over Brown.

Harvard has had 30 players suit up for four different countries since the first IIHF World Junior Championship in 1977. Since Ted Donato joined the program in 2004, Harvard has had 14 selections, with Donato himself serving as an assistant coach on Team USA's gold-medal winning team in 2021.

Koskenvuo and Team Finland will kick off play on Dec. 26, when they take on Switzerland at 11 a.m. ET in Moncton.
