Brooke Hourigan Earns CWPA Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Harvard women's water polo sophomore Brooke Hourigan has received CWPA Player of the Week, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced today, Feb. 17. Hourigan led the Crimson with 12 goals at the Princeton Invitational, as Harvard picked up wins over Villanova, St. Francis Brooklyn, No. 17 LIU, and VMI.

Hourigan, a native of Newport Beach, Calif., began her weekend with a three-goal effort against Villanova, adding a steal and block. In the 20-2 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn, Hourigan netted a career-high six goals to go along with two steals and an assist. Returning on Sunday, the sophomore posted a goal with two assists in the 9-8 win over No. 17 LIU, before collecting two more goals and a steal against VMI.

This marks the first career CWPA Player of the Week honor for Hourigan, and the second straight for the Crimson, after Grace Thawley received the honor this past week. Hourigan was a two-time CWPA Rookie of the Week recipient in her shortened 2020 first-year campaign.

Harvard will enjoy a weekend off before opening CWPA conference play on Saturday, Feb. 26, with a 9:00 a.m. matchup at Saint Francis (PA). The Crimson will then play a neutral site game against Mount Saint Mary's later that day at 4:30 p.m., hosted by Bucknell University. Harvard will round out the weekend with a 10:30 a.m. contest on Sunday, Feb. 27 against Bucknell.
