CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University wrestling returns to action with a pair of EIWA dual meets, competing at Columbia University on Friday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. (ESPN+) and at Hofstra University on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1:00 p.m. (YouTube) as the Crimson wrestles for the first time since Jan. 28.

What to Know: Dual Season Notes

• The Crimson (1-4, 1-4 EIWA, 0-3 Ivy) competes in its fourth straight Ivy League dual when it meets the Lions (2-8, 2-5 EIWA, 0-3 Ivy) before closing the weekend against the Pride (2-10, 1-4 EIWA).
• In the first NCAA Coaches' rankings of the year from Jan. 21, sophomore Philip Conigliaro stands at No. 11 at 165 pounds, and sophomore Joshua Kim sits at No. 27 at 174 pounds. The second coaches' rankings is set for Thursday, Feb. 10.
• In the rankings from Intermat from Feb. 8, sophomore Philip Conigliaro stands at No. 15 at 165 pounds. Conigliaro holds a 13-4 record on the season, including a 5-1 mark in his last six matchups.
• Sophomore Philip Conigliaro and senior Lukus Stricker stand in a tie for the team lead with 13 wins. Sophomore Joshua Kim ranks third with 11 victories while junior Beau Bayless and sophomore Nick Marcenelle follow with nine wins apiece.
• Sophomore Nick Marcenelle leads the team with four falls on the year while junior Beau Bayless paces the program with three major decisions.
• Senior Lukus Stricker leads the Crimson in dual points (18), dual wins (four), and dual falls (two) on the year. Stricker has posted a 4-1 record during the dual season.
• Facing No. 20 Princeton and No. 22 Penn on Jan. 28, sophomore Philip Conigliaro and senior Lukus Stricker each tallied a pair of victories as Harvard hosted an Ivy League dual meet for the first time in 727 days. Stricker posted a pin against the Tigers.
• In its first weekend of dual competition this season, Harvard topped Sacred Heart, 39-6, on Jan. 15 after dropping a 20-12 decision to Bucknell on Jan. 14. Senior Lukus Stricker went 2-0 on the weekend at 149 pounds. Harvard totaled six bonus-point wins, including four falls, in its victory over the Pioneers.
• In the Ivy League opener on Jan. 22 at No. 10 Cornell, first-years Kenny Herrmann (141) and Luke Rada (184) each picked up individual match wins.
• Harvard trails the all-time series with Columbia, 36-51-2, and leads the all-time series with Hofstra, 11-10-1.

What to Know: Tournament Season Notes

• First-year Dom Mata placed third at 184 pounds to pace Harvard at the 2022 David H. Lehman Franklin & Marshall Open on Jan. 4. Mata notched a 3-1 record at the event, including a fall and major decision.
• Competing at the 2021 MatMen Open from Dec. 29-30, sophomore Philip Conigliaro placed second at 165 pounds, including a top-10 individual victory in the semifinals, to lead a group of three place-winners for Harvard. Senior Lukus Stricker finished sixth at 149 pounds, and sophomore Joshua Kim came in eighth at 174 pounds.
• At the 2021 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Dec. 3-4), junior Yaraslau Slavikouski placed second at 285 pounds, and sophomore Philip Conigliaro finished sixth at 165 pounds to lead Harvard. Conigliaro placed at CKLV for the second time in his career.
• Junior Yaraslau Slavikouski earned EIWA Wrestler of the Week honors on Dec. 8 after placing second at 285 pounds at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Slavikouski won four straight matches, including a victory over top-seeded Tate Orndorff of Ohio State in the semifinals, to reach the first-place match prior to an injury default in that contest.
• Sophomore Philip Conigliaro won the 165-pound title to lead a group of eight Harvard placers at the Keystone Classic on Nov. 21 at The Palestra. The Crimson totaled 34 wins on the day, including eight bonus-point wins with seven student-athletes placing fourth or better. Harvard tallied one champion, three third-place finishers, three fourth-place performances, and a seventh-place showing among its placers.
• At the Keystone Classic, sophomore Philip Conigliaro paced the Crimson with his 165-pound championship, finishing the day with an undefeated 4-0 mark. Harvard's third-place finishers included junior Beau Bayless at 125 pounds, sophomore Joshua Kim at 174 pounds, and sophomore Nick Marcenelle at 197 pounds. The team's fourth-place finishers included senior Lukus Stricker (149 pounds), junior Trevor Tarsi (157 pounds), and sophomore Leo Tarantino (184 pounds).
• Competing for the first time since March 7, 2020 – a span of 617 days – the Crimson posted a 36-21 overall record at the Journeymen Classic in its season opener on Nov. 14 with 13 bonus-point wins, including eight falls. Harvard tallied five pool champions and six pool runner-up finishes.
• At the Journeymen Classic, sophomore Joshua Kim took first place in pool A at 174 pounds behind a 3-0 record. First-year Kenny Herrmann came in first in pool C at 141 pounds with a 3-0 mark, and sophomore Nick Marcenelle claimed first place in pool B at 197 pounds behind a 3-0 record. At 184 pounds, first-years Dom Mata and Luke Rada won pools C and E respectively with 3-0 marks.

The David G. Bunning '88 Head Coach for Harvard Wrestling and a two-time EIWA Coach of the Year, Jay Weiss has mentored two national champions, 17 EIWA champions and 19 All-Americans during his 27 years at the helm of the Crimson.
