CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard women's lacrosse (3-1) used a seven-goal run in the first half to defeat the Siena Saints (2-4), 11-4, on Jordan Field this afternoon.
Callie Hem's four points led the charge as the Crimson improved to 2-0 all-time against the Saints with the result.
The Crimson's 11-4 win was powered by seven straight goals to kick off the contest.
Callie Hem and
Maddie Barkate both scored a pair of goals in the run to help Harvard take a 7-0 lead after thirty minutes of play.
Gina-Marie Riciotti got to work early, scoring less than three minutes into the contest to give Harvard the 1-0 lead.
Maddie Barkate's first goal of the season rounded out the scoring in the first quarter. Starting goalkeeper,
Chloe Provenzano, saved the only shot that was directed to the goal to keep the sheet clean after the first quarter.
Harvard kept its foot on the gas in the second quarter, scoring five more goals to supplement the lead. Hem scored back-to-back goals to lead the the charge. Ilana Koffman, Barkate and
Riley Campbell added the final three goals of the quarter, respectively. Provenzano got a stick on the final shot of the quarter, to keep Siena off the board through 30 minutes of play.
Siena did not shy away just yet, as the Saints finally got on the board to start the scoring in the third quarter. Harvard responded quickly with another strike from Campbell to bring the lead back to seven. The Saints added one more tally to end the thrid quarter trailing the Crimson, 8-2.
First-Year
Annabel Child scored her first collegiate goal in style to open up the final quarter, taking a pass from Hem and flinging the shot behind her back and into the twine.
Hem completed her hat-trick on the next goal to give Harvard a 10-4 advantage.
Caroline Mullahy scored the final goal for the Crimson who trotted off Jordan Field with the 11-4 victory.

The Crimson returns to action this Monday, March 14th when it hits the road for its Spring Break trip to Jacksonville, Fla. Harvard is set to take on Monmouth at 6 pm before turning around to face off opposite Jacksonsville on Thursday, March 17th at 1 pm.
