CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Picking up its fourth-straight win, the No. 15 Harvard men's lacrosse team (5-1, 1-0 Ivy League) handed No. 13 Boston University (6-1) its first loss of the season on Tuesday night at Jordan Field. The Crimson defeated the Terriers, 13-10, to move to 5-1on the season.

Austin Madronic continue to be a steady presence for the Crimson's offense, leading the way tonight with four and three goals, respectively. Junior
Hayden Cheek added a pair of his own, while
Nick Loring,
Owen Gaffney,
Miles Botkiss and
Andrew Perry each tallied one apiece. First-year
Martin Nelson and senior
Steven Cuccurullo led Harvard in groundballs with seven and six, respectively. King paced the Crimson's defensive efforts as well with three caused turnovers. Senior
Kyle Mullin manned the net for Harvard, posting 12 saves and a .545 save percentage.
King got the Crimson on the board early to begin the game, and later increased Harvard's lead to 2-0 with his second goal of the quarter. The teams traded the next three goals, as Perry found the back of the net to preserve a 3-2 advantage for the Crimson at the end of the opening frame.
Strong defense and goaltending on both ends kept each team off the board for the first eight minutes of play in the second quarter. The Terriers would tie the score twice throughout the quarter, but goals from King and Loring maintained a 5-4 lead for Harvard headed into halftime.
The Crimson and Terriers picked up where they left off in quarter two, exchanging goals throughout the third period. Madronic took a feed from
Ray Dearth in transition to make it a 6-5 Harvard lead, while King notched his fourth goal of the night to put the Crimson up 7-6. The Crimson ended the quarter on a 3-0 run with goals from Cheek, Gaffney and Botkiss to build a 10-7 lead to conclude the quarter.
BU fought back at the beginning of quarter four, scoring two-straight to make it a 10-8 game. Harvard responded with an offensive surge, including a hat trick from Madronic and Cheek's second of the night, to use another 3-0 run to take its largest lead of the game at 13-9. The Terriers tallied one more at the five-minute mark, but Harvard's defense was able to hold BU at bay for the remainder of the quarter to seal a 13-10 win.
