Caroline Mullahy had a five point day (2G, 3A) and sophomore
Callie Hem added three goals, but Harvard women's lacrosse (3-4, 1-1 Ivy) fell, 10-9, in double overtime to Cornell (5-3, 2-1 Ivy) at Jordan Field.
In a back-and-forth contest in which neither team led by more than two goals, Cornell scored the game-winner at 1:41 of the second overtime.
Harvard held a 5-3 lead at the half, as Hem scored twice to lead the Crimson attack early on. The game remained scoreless until a low to high free position shot by Hem at 4:58 put Harvard in front late in the first quarter.
Cornell evened the score late in the quarter, but Hem notched another goal off a great pass from
Charlotte Clark (two goals, assist) from behind the net to make it 2-1 at 14:07 of the second quarter.
Annibel Child scored on a 20-yard run at 11:43 of the second quarter to put Harvard ahead by two, and the Crimson responded to a two-goal Cornell surge with two late-quarter goals to maintain a two-goal lead.
The Big Red scored four goals in the second quarter to take their first lead of the afternoon at 5:37 of the third quarter. But Hem responded with a man-up goal at 2:02 to keep the Crimson ahead going into the fourth quarter.
Goals by Mullahy (13:58) and
Riley Campbell (11:18) in the fourth quarter helped the Crimson match its biggest lead of the game. But Cornell sent the game to overtime with a goal midway through the fourth quarter, and another with less than a minute left in regulation.
