PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Continuing Ivy League road action, the No. 14 Harvard men's lacrosse team (7-3, 2-2 Ivy League) fell to No. 11 Penn (5-4, 2-3 Ivy League), 11-8, at Franklin Field today. The Crimson fell to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Harvard had six different goal scorers today, led by first-years Owen Gaffney and Andrew Perry with two apiece. Miles Botkiss, Greg Campisi, Sam King and Hayden Cheek each posted one goal. Austin Madronic tallied three of the Crimson's four assists, while also adding a team-best five groundballs. Campisi and Ollie Hollo followed, each notching four groundballs. Chase Strupp helped lead the defense with three caused turnovers. Kyle Mullin made 13 saves in net to register a .542 save percentage.

After a few scoring chances early for the Crimson, Cheek broke through at the 10-minute mark to put Harvard up 1-0. Penn evened the score just 30 seconds later. Harvard regained its lead after a long pole goal from Campisi, before the Quakers tied it once more. Gaffney found the back of the net with less than one minute remaining in the opening frame to give the Crimson a 3-2 edge.

The first 10 minutes of the second quarter went scoreless with a few great saves from Mullin in net. Perry broke the scoring drought at the five-minute mark to push Harvard to a two-goal lead at 4-2. Penn made it a one-goal game again towards the end of the frame to cut its deficit to 4-3 heading into halftime.

Penn came out in the third quarter scoring five-straight goals to take its first lead of the day. The Quakers kept the Crimson off the board throughout the frame to hold onto an 8-4 advantage to conclude the period.

Gaffney kicked off the fourth quarter with his second of the day, before Penn regained its four-goal lead shortly after. The teams then traded goals, as Botkiss and King each tallied a goal to keep the Crimson within three at 10-7. Perry cut Harvard's deficit to three with his second of the game, but Penn held onto its lead for the remainder of play to seal an 11-8 victory.
