BRUNSWICK, Maine. – The Crimson wrapped-up the NEISA Women's Dinghy Championship at Bowdoin on Sunday, ending the weekend in sixth place out of 15 schools with a two-day score of 195.
Emma Kaneti combined with both
Marleigh Belsley and
Marbella Marlo to place eighth in the A-division, finishing first twice during the regatta's 15 races. In the B-division, the Crimson tallied six top-three finishes behind skipper
Sarah Burn and crews
Sophia Montgomery and
Corinne Lee, ultimately ranking third.
Dartmouth and Yale secured the two available automatic bids to the ICSA Women's Fleet Racing Championship by virtue of their first and second place finishes, respectively. The Crimson will now hope to earn a bid from the selection committee to the event, which is scheduled to take place May 23-26 in New Orleans.
At the inter-conference Thompson Trophy hosted by Connecticut College, Harvard placed 13th with a three-division score of 416 for the weekend. A total of 12 Crimson saw action at the regatta, which was won Brown via a head-to-head tiebreaker with Yale. Harvard found its most success in the B-division, where skipper
Dylan Ascencios and a crew combination of
Alexandra Dorofeev,
Matthew Cabot and
Tyler Masuyama placed seventh with 118 points. The Crimson B-division sailors managed top-two finishes on three occasions, including a first-place result in the regatta's opening race.
Harvard's fleet-race filled weekend also included an appearance at the Central Four Fleet Race, a single-day regatta held at Tufts on Sunday. There, the Crimson recorded an 11th place finish with 131 points.
Paul Kuechler and
Katie Barkin were 10th in the A-division with a total score of 58, while
Jack Schwab and
Grace Li took 13th in the B-division. Salve Regina (two) was the top-finisher on the day, totaling 45 points as a team.
