PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Harvard doubled-up Brown in the hit column but was unable to push across a run over seven innings as the Bears emerged with a 1-0 decision in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Saturday. The Crimson, which took the first game earlier in the day, fell to 16-16 overall and 10-4 in the Ivy League, while the Bears moved to 13-22 (5-12 Ivy).
Â
Harvard had traffic on the base paths all afternoon, getting at least one runner aboard in each inning. The Crimson threatened with two runners on in the first, fifth and sixth innings, and had the bases juiced in the second, but could not come up with the one big hit.
Â
Brown, on the other hand, got what would end up being the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning. After
Katie Arrambide induced a foul out to open the frame, Laurel Moody doubled down the left-field line and was followed by a Moe Kastens single through the right side. Moody eventually came around to score on a throwing error.
Â
The Crimson, which out-hit Brown, 8-4, was led by
Allison Heffley's three-hit afternoon. The three hits were a career high and extended her personal-best hit streak to 14 games.
Kaitlin Lampson, meanwhile, was 2-for-3 at the plate and recorded her fourth multi-hit game of the season.
Â
Harvard will look to win the series on Sunday when it faces Brown at noon ET. The Ivy League contest will air live on ESPN+.
