Women’s Golf Concludes 2021-22 Season with Third Place Finish at Ivy Championships

RINGOES, N.J. – Three individuals placed inside the top-10 as Harvard took third place at the 2022 Ivy Championships this weekend with a 54-hole team score of 900 (+36). 
 
The event, which was played at The Ridge at Back Brook, was won by Princeton with a cumulative score of 892 (+28). The Tigers' Yanjun Liu earned Medalist Honors, finishing the weekend at even-par. 
 
Crimson captain Anina Ku used a final round 71 (-1) to charge up the leaderboard into a tie for third, while Chloe Royston (T8, +8) and Meiyi Yan (T10, +9) joined their teammate amongst the top-10. 
 
Isabella Gomez fired a second round 71 on her way to placing tied for 16th at 13-over par for the tournament, while Yoona Kim ended the weekend in 28th with a score of 26-over par. 
 
Harvard found itself in third place after Friday's opening round when the team posted a total of 305 (+17) amidst breezy conditions. The Crimson remained in the third position for the tournament's duration despite being the only team in the field to break 300 in each of the final two rounds (297-298). 

Harvard Highlights 

  • Seniors Anina Ku and Chloe Royston tied for the best par-4 scoring average on the tournament at 4.04. Ku and Royston played the par-4s in 1-over par for the weekend. 
  • Sophomore Meiyi Yan was one of 10 golfers to play the par-5s under-par on the tournament, registering a cumulative score of 2-under on the holes. 
  • Isabella Gomez and Ku each recorded under-par rounds this weekend. Gomez carded a 71 in round two while Ku dipped into red figures with her 71 during Sunday's final round. Harvard joined tournament champion, Princeton as the only two teams to have multiple players record sub-par rounds in the tournament. 
  • Ku paced the entire field with a total of 40 pars over the tournament's 54 holes. 
  • Ku's T3 finish was her highest of the 2021-22 season. The senior finished inside the top-5 in each of her final two events (Hoya Invitational, Ivy Championships). 
  • Yan led Harvard with nine birdies on the weekend, tied for the second most in the field.  

Tournament Notes: 

  • Scoring average for the tournament was 76.13. Round one featured the highest average score (76.79) while round three had the lowest (75.73). 
  • A total of six teams and 30 individuals participated in the event. 
  • The 2022 Ivy Championships were played at The Ridge at Back Brook (par 72, 6,174 yards).
