Baseball Drops Pair of One-Run Games in Doubleheader at Yale, 1-0, 6-5

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Chris Clark and first-year Tanner Smith combined to allow just one run in game one, and junior Logan Bravo hit his team-high eighth home run of the season in game two, but Harvard University baseball dropped a pair of one-run games in a doubleheader at Yale University, 1-0 and 6-5, on Sunday afternoon at George H.W. Bush Field.

Opening the final Ivy League series of the year, the Crimson (18-22, 9-11 Ivy) held a 5-3 lead entering the bottom of the eighth inning in game two before the Bulldogs (20-17, 10-10 Ivy) took the contest after the hosts plated the opener's only run in the last of the second inning.

Over the two games, junior Will Jacobsen went 4-for-8 while Bravo posted a home run and a double, increasing his team-leading totals in home runs (eight) and doubles (16). In game one, Clark tossed 4.0 innings, giving up one run while Smith hurled 4.0 scoreless innings in relief with a career-high six strikeouts.

In game one, the Bulldogs plated the game's only run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. The Crimson threatened with two on and no outs in the top of the fourth, while also getting a lead-off double from Bravo in the top of the eighth before Yale held on for the win.

In game two, after Yale opened the game with a 2-0 lead in the first, the Crimson responded with a pair of runs scoring on wild pitches in the third. Bravo then blasted a two-run home run to left field in the top of the sixth to give the Crimson a 4-2 advantage. Following a Yale run in the seventh, Harvard executed a double steal to move ahead 5-3 in the eighth. The Bulldogs then plated the game's final three runs to capture the twin bill.
