Cambridge, Mass. – Harvard's weekend at home ended with the first win of the 2022 season over the Iona Gaels. Harvard (1-5) came up short against Georgia (8-1) Saturday morning with a score of 3-1 in four sets of 28-30, 25-16, 25-18 and 25-14. The Crimson later took down the Iona Gaels (5-4) with a final score of 3-2 in a heated five sets, scored 25-15, 24-26, 25-23, 28-30 and 15-11.
Harvard started the day with a win in set one against the Georgia Bulldogs, pulling out a 30-28 win in extended play after both teams reached 25. The set consisted of 10 lead changes and 19 ties, with the Crimson pulling out the win in the end. The following three sets went to UGA. Olivia Cooper led the Crimson in aces, scoring three throughout the match. Ariana White was a leader in both kills (eight) and blocks (four) against the Bulldogs.
Game two against Iona started with a dominating performance by the Crimson, who took set one by a 10-point margin 25-15. The Gaels came back in set two with a 26-24 win after gameplay forced the set into extended play. Harvard bounced back in set three, holding a strong lead and securing the win 25-23. Set four proved to be another long battle, with both teams reaching 28 points before the Gaels took the final two points to make it 30-28. Set five was another close matchup, with both teams reaching 10 points before the Crimson could pull out the win and earn a 3-2 victory after a 15-11 win in set five.

- Katie Vorhies, Nicole Prescott and Ashley Wang scored over 20 points each throughout today's matches.
- Lindsey Zhang was on the leader board for aces in every game at the Harvard Invitational, accumulating six throughout the weekend.
- Bella Almanza led the Crimson in assists during every game of the Harvard Invitational, with 25 in game one, 17 in game two and 38 in game three.
- Ashley Wang scored 19 kills over Iona while Katie Vorhies scored 17.
- Harvard beat Iona 12-4 in aces and 73-60 in kills throughout the match.
