Cambridge, Mass. – The Harvard volleyball team began conference play on Saturday, Sept. 24 in a home match against Dartmouth. Harvard (1-8) was defeated by Dartmouth (9-2) 3-1 in four sets of 20-25, 16-25, 25-20 and 19-25.
The Harvard volleyball team started the day with a small lead, beating the Big Green to ten points in the first set of the day. A back-and-fourth battle in set two was then won by Dartmouth. The Crimson fell behind early in set two and fell short of the win, despite a five-kill run midway through the set. The Crimson dominated set three from the first few points, building up to a six-point lead at one point and finishing the set 25-20. Set four was another close battle with Harvard holding the lead for the first half. Dartmouth was able to make a comeback to win the set and the match 3-1.
Katie Vorhies led the Crimson in points, scoring 16 throughout the night; all points scored from her team-leading kills. She was followed by White, who scored 11.5 points for the Crimson as a combination of kills and blocks. White and Vorhies had the leading hit percentage on the night with 35.7 percent and 35.5 percent, respectively.
Harvard Highlights
- Harvard went on a five-point run consisting of four kills from Olivia Cooper and one from Katie Vorhies in the second set.
- Four Crimson players had seven or more kills on the night, topped by Vorhies with 16, White with eight and Corinne Furey and Olivia Cooper with seven.
-Sophomore Rocky Aguirre scored three aces for the Crimson, leading in service aces throughout the night. Furey and first-year Brynne Faltinsky scored one ace each as well.

Harvard Volleyball will continue conference play next weekend with a match against Penn at home on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. They will then face Princeton on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. The matches will stream on ESPN+.
