CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard Crimson (6-12-3, 5-8-3 ECAC) battled until the very end against Union College (11-14-1, 4-10-1 ECAC) on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Harvard received a goal from
Ellie Bayard and 29 saves from
Alex Pellicci, but fell just short, losing to the Dutchmen 3-1.

How it Happened
- Harvard started the game off hot on both ends of the ice.
- Just two minutes into the game, Ellie Bayard got the Crimson on the board by burying a ricocheting puck past the goalie near post to give Harvard a 1-0 lead.
- The goal was Bayard's third of the season and fifth goal in her career
- Sophie Ensley and Eva Dorr assisted on the goal. For Ensley, the assist was her second of the season. For Dorr, it was the first point of her career.
- The Crimson continued to put pressure on the Dutchmen early, outshooting them eight to three at the 12 minute mark of the first.
- Harvard was strong defensively in the first as well, only allowing four Union shots on goal after 15 minutes of play.
- Two goals in the second period for Union gave them a 2-1 lead over Harvard.
- In the third period, Harvard would create multiple opportunities, many of which were from Anne Bloomer who finished the game with six shots on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net.
- Union would score once more with a minute and a half left in the game after Harvard pulled Alex Pellicci from net.
- Despite valiant effort, the Crimson would fall to Union 3-1.
