CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For a second consecutive season, No. 1 seed Harvard women's rugby will face-off against rival No. 2 seed Dartmouth for the NIRA Division I Championship trophy. The championship showdown takes place at Mignone Field at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. Mignone Field will host all three NIRA Finals, as the NIRA Division III Final takes place at 11 a.m. and the NIRA Division II Final begins at 1:30 p.m.
Admission for college students with a valid university ID and kids under the age of 18 is free. General admission tickets cost $10 and can be purchased here. The match will air live on ESPN+.
WHAT TO KNOW:
- Harvard is 8-0 on the 15s season and is seeking the second NIRA Division I Championship in program history.
- A win against the Big Green would secure the first perfect 15s season in program history.
- The Crimson won its first NIRA Division I Championship title in 2019, beating Army 18-7 in the final.
- Senior captain Brogan Mior was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2019 NIRA Division I Final.
- Harvard is 1-2 all-time in NIRA Division I Final matches, losing to Dartmouth twice (2018 and 2022).
- The Crimson advanced to the final last Saturday with a resounding 60-5 victory against No. 4 seed Sacred Heart in the semifinals.
- Lennox London led the way with three tries and 15 points, as eight different Harvard student-athletes found the try zone against Sacred Heart.
- Harvard has outscored its opponents 420-65 this 15s season, scoring 60 or more points four times.
- Head coach Mel Denham is in her seventh as head coach of the Harvard program and is looking to win her second NIRA Division I Championship. She is joined by assistant coaches Sylvia Braaten and Akweley Okine.
- Mior, Elianne Sacher, and Sofia Hilger are the Crimson captains.
- Dartmouth is the two-time defending NIRA Division I Champion, beating Army in 2021 and Harvard in 2022.
- The Big Green is 6-2 this 15s season, advancing to the NIRA Division I Final with a 38-8 win against No. 3 seed Quinnipiac.
- Harvard and Dartmouth meet for a second time in 2023 15s action. The Crimson captured the 2023 Ivy Championship with a dramatic 19-17 road win against the Big Green. Skylar Jordan sent the Ivy trophy back to Cambridge with a conversion as time expired.
- Dartmouth leads the all-time series against Harvard, 13-6. The two sides met in last year's NIRA Division I Final.
