Women’s Heavyweight Rowing Competes at Princeton Chase

PRINCETON, N.J. – Radcliffe Heavyweight Rowing competed at the Princeton 3-Mile Chase on Sunday, wrapping up the second of three scheduled race weekends this fall. The busy day featured Black and White entries in the Women's Open 8+, Women's 8+, Women's 4+ and Women's 2-.
 
In the Women's Open 8+, Radcliffe's A-boat (c – Alexandra Cherf, 8 – Jenna Kempster-Taylor, 7 – Aurelia Elliott, 6 – Sophie Barr, 5 – Heidi Jacobson, 4 – Kathryn Serra, 3 – Isabel Llabres Diaz, 2 – Catherine Van Stone, 1 – Aidan Wrenn-Walz) produced the team's top time of 15:02.412, which was good for eighth place in a field of 54 crews. The Black and White's B-boat, consisting of Gillian Selig (c), Alexia Fayd'herbe de Maudave (8), Alexandria Lange (7), Lindsey Brail (6), Bridget Galloway (5), Francesca Gardella (4), Sarah Averill (3), Piper Cyterski (2) and Leah Bailey (1), meanwhile, rounded out the top 10, coming in 10th with a time of 15:03.571.
 
The Black and White had a solid showing in the Women's 4+, placing two boats in the top 11 among a field of 31 boats. The Radcliffe B-entry of Selig (c), Meredith Kent (4), Julia Abbruzzese (3), Cyterski (2) and Alex Smits (1), came in eighth with a performance of 16:41.710. Harvard-Radcliffe's A-boat (c – Cherf, 4 – Orla Harvey, 3 – Kempster-Taylor, 2 – Llabres Diaz, 1 – Galloway), meanwhile, finished in 11th place (16:47.007).
 
Radcliffe ended its day with the Women's 2- and produced the runner-up boat, featuring Serra and Jacobson. The Black and White A-boat finished with a time of 17:30.838, which was second to the Black and White lightweight boat (17:04.511). Gardella and Lange, rowing in Radcliffe's B-entry, notched a fourth-place effort after crossing the finish line in 17:32.016.
 
The Black and White will put the finishing touches on its fall slate on Saturday, Nov. 11, when it competes at home in the Foot of the Charles.
