Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to No. 5 Clarkson

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's ice hockey was tripped up by the No. 5 Clarkson Golden Knights in the team's final game before the holiday break today at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center. The Crimson (2-12-1, 1-9-1 ECACH) fell to the Golden Knights 9-1 to close out the first half.

Shannon Hollands scored the Crimson goal in the effort, her sixth strike of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Crimson and the Golden Knights met on the ice at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center today for the first time in 2023-24. Harvard was coming off a thrilling 1-0 overtime win against St. Lawrence last night (Dec. 1) and looked to hand Clarkson its first defeat of its season.
  • Clarkson came out of the gates flying, putting 15 shots on net in the first period. The Golden Knights picked up two goals in the first 20 to go into the first intermission with a 2-0 advantage.
  • After Clarkson added one goal in the beginning of the second period, Harvard fought back with a tally of its own, scored by its senior captain, Shannon Hollands. Hollands rifled a backhanded shot into the twine after Angelica Megdanis carried the puck deep and shuffled a pass to Hollands in front. The assist by Megdanis would go down as her first career point.
  • Clarkson answered with two more goals in the back half of the period and would carry a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.
  • The Golden Knights added four goals in the final frame to come away with a 9-1 victory against the Crimson.

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS

  • Shannon Hollands scored her third goal of the season and 16th career goal.
  • Angelica Megdanis notched her first career point with the primary assist on the goal.
  • Zoe Boosamra added the other assist on the Hollands goal.
  • Harvard blocked 24 shots as a team, led by Maria Pape who had six blocked shots.
