Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Farrell's Five Point Night Lifts No. 10/10 Men's Hockey Past Dartmouth, 6-3

HANOVER, N.H. – Junior forward Sean Farrell (two goals, three assists) recorded a career best five-point night to lead No. 10/10 Harvard men's ice hockey (17-6-1, 14-4-0 ECAC Hockey) to a 6-3 win over Dartmouth (4-20-1, 3-14-1 ECAC Hockey) on Friday night (Feb. 10) at Thompson Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dartmouth put the first goal on the board at the end of a Harvard shift in which it did everything but score. A long stretch pass to Sean Chisholm led to a breakaway goal for the Big Green at 8:53 of the opening period.

But Harvard responded quickly, as some good work along the boards by senior captain Baker Shore gave first-year forward Marek Hejduk the puck down low. Hejduk wrapped the puck around the net and Ryan Drkulec jammed in a loose puck at 10:01 to tie the game at 1-1.

The teams continued to trade goals in a second period full of penalties (4 for Dartmouth, 2 for Harvard).

Harvard took its first lead of the night at 6:37 as Laferriere crashed the net for a rebound off a point shot from Ian Moore and beat Cooper Black by sliding the puck underneath his pad at 6:37 to make it 2-1.

Dartmouth answered with a power play goal at 11:53 when a shot from the point deflected off of Cam MacDonald past Gibson to tie the game.

The Crimson once again answered on the power play, as a beautiful series of passes from Farrell from the right circle to Laferriere in the slot, and then to Farinacci down low led to the senior captain's second goal of the year at 14:41 to make it 3-2.

Farrell found first-year forward Joe Miller with a great pass to the right circle and Miller hit the top corner at 1:21 of the third period to put Harvard up by two.

After a Dartmouth power play goal at 5:20 cut the lead back to one, it was Farrell again in the middle of things to put the game away.

Sophomore forward Matthew Coronato forced a Dartmouth turnover at their own blue line and sprung Farrell on a breakaway. Farrell cut around Black and fired one into the open net at 9:31 to make it 5-3. Farrell's empty net goal at 18:45 sealed the win for the Crimson.
