Chris Ledlum has earned Ivy League Player of the Week for the second time this season, and first-year forward
Chisom Okpara has collected Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the fourth time after helping the Crimson post a 2-0 record this past week, the Ivy League conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Ledlum averaged 25.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 4.0 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game while Okpara tallied 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last week to help lead Harvard to a 2-0 road weekend sweep with victories over Columbia (83-65) and Cornell (73-56).
Ledlum poured in a career-high 35 points on 12-of-17 field goals, 2-of-3 3-pointers, and 9-of-12 free throws at Cornell, completing the double-double with 13 rebounds and adding a career-high six steals, three assists, and two blocks. Against Columbia on Friday night, he approached a double-double with 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals.
Okpara scored a team-high 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting against the Lions on Friday, while adding six rebounds. He captured Ivy League Rooke of the Week for the fourth time after also taking home the accolades on Nov. 14, Nov. 21, and Dec. 26.
With the two victories, the Crimson improved to 5-7 in Ivy League play and moved within one game of Brown (6-6 Ivy) and Cornell (6-6 Ivy) for fourth place in the Ivy standings with two games to play. Harvard holds a 3-1 record against the Bears and Big Red – a better mark than Brown (2-2) and Cornell (1-3) against the group.
