CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After another remarkable season, Harvard women's soccer has named its captains for the 2023 season.
Anna Karpenko,
Ava Lung and
Jade Rose will lead the team as a unit when the squad hits the field in August to begin its quest for an Ivy League title and a third-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Lung was elected by her peers to lead the team for a second season, making her the first two-time captain since 2017 and only the ninth in program history.
Rising senior and goalkeeper,
Anna Karpenko, was elected alongside fellow Canadian and rising junior defender,
Jade Rose. Karpenko wrote her name in the record book last season after allowing only nine goals in net, the seventh fewest in team history.
Rose, the reigning Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, will be just the ninth junior in program history to serve as captain. The Canada native has led by example on the backline for Harvard since her arrival in Cambridge in the Fall of 2019, helping the program turn in dominant defensive efforts the past two seasons.
The Crimson has already begun off season programming as it prepares for the Fall 2023 season.
