Crimson Win Fifth Ivy League Game in a Row at Brown, Now Tied for First in Ivy Standings

Providence, R.I. - The Harvard women's basketball team (14-7, 7-2 Ivy) have won their fifth Ivy League game in a row at Brown (9-12, 2-7 Ivy), 74-61. 

After hitting the 1000 point benchmark last night, Lola Mullaney got the game started for the Crimson with two threes early in quarter one. Harmoni Turner scored the next five as Harvard shot 3-for3 from three to end the quarter up 20-12. 

Elena Rodriguez put in the first points in quarter two, scoring two layups in the first two minutes. Harvard out-rebounded Brown 12-6 and outscored the Bears 21-16 in the second quarter, building a 13 point lead going into the half, 41-28

The third quarter of play followed a similar pattern as the first two, with Harvard widening their lead by pulling down 16 rebounds compared to Brown's seven and building the lead to 20, 64-44. 

Four Crimson players scored in the first half of quarter four: Turner, Elle Stauffer, McKenzie Forbes and Katie Krupa. At this point, every Crimson player who hit the floor against Brown had scored at least two points. Harvard remained in control, finishing off the Bears with a 13-point victory, 74-61. 

Harvard Highlights

  • Turner led the Crimson in points and rebounds to post a double-double in Providence with 19 points and 12 rebounds. She dished out four assists as well to lead the Crimson in each of the three primary metrics. 
  • After surpassing the 1000 point benchmark on Friday night, Lola Mullaney followed closely behind Turner with 16 points. McKenzie Forbes scored 16 as well.
  • Joining them in double digits, Krupa shot 5-for-7 from the floor to score 14, setting a new career high points scored in her first year in Crimson. 
  • Harvard was consistent in pulling down more rebounds than the Bears every quarter, ending the game with 43 over Brown's 34. 
  • With today's win over Brown, Harvard has moved to 60-34 over the Bears in the all-time series. They have also swept Brown in the 2022-23 season regular play with scores of 89-59 and 74-61.
  • Harvard has scored 43 points more than Brown this season in both games combined. 
  • The Crimson are now 7-2 in conference play after winning five consecutive conference games and are in a three-way tie for first with Princeton and Columbia.

Harvard will stay on the road for a weekend and travel to Penn for a game on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
