Women’s Rugby Hosts Crimson 7s to Open Spring Season

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard women's rugby team returns for its highly anticipated spring 7s season by hosting seven teams in the Crimson 7s tournament on Saturday, March 25 begining with pool play at 9:00 a.m. (ESPN+).

What To Know

  • Harvard dominated in a 6-3 regular season in the fall 15s campaign, receiving the No. 2 seed in the NIRA playoffs and capping the season as NIRA DI runner-up.
  • This will be the team's first competition since the NIRA DI Championship on Nov. 19 against Dartmouth.
  • This marks the seventh annual Crimson 7s that Harvard will play host to after holding the tournament from 2015-19 and 2022. The Crimson aims to become the Cup Champion for the second year in a row.
  • Captains Brogan Mior, Elianne Sacher and Sofia Hilger will lead the Crimson. Mior tabbed All-NIRA Second Team honors along with first-years Tiahna Padilla and Lennox London this past fall.
  • Two of the newest alumni to the team, Michelle Groth and Cassidy Bargell graduated in December after earning All-NIRA First Team honors along with first-year Cameron Fields.

Crimson 7s Toy Drive

The team will host its first annual Crimson 7s Toy Drive to support the children at Mass General Hospital in Boston. To engage players across NIRA and women's rugby in the U.S. and create a large-scale event that could really benefit those in the community, Harvard will create an opportunity for every fan, player, and coach to help aid in the donation drive by donating a toy at the Crimson 7s tournament.

The team will be accepting donations at the game day table throughout the entirety of the event.
