Logan Bravo launched a go-ahead home run in the top of the 10
th as Harvard University baseball beat the University of baseball in 10 innings, 3-2, in its Ivy League opener on Friday afternoon at Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium.
Playing its first game of the season in the Northeast, the Crimson (3-14, 1-0 Ivy) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth behind Berger's two-run home run and then topped the Quakers (9-8, 0-1 Ivy) behind Bravo's solo shot in the top of the 10
th.
Bravo finished the day 3-for-5 with a home run – his second of the year – and a double while Berger launched his third homer of the season. Junior

Harrison Stovern (2.2 innings, one run), and junior
Chris Clark (1.0 inning, zero runs, one strikeout) combined to allow the Quakers just two runs.
Due to weather in Philadelphia, officials revised the weekend series' format to a single game on Friday and doubleheader on Saturday. If needed, the two teams will use Sunday as the rain date for Saturday's games.
Harvard Highlights
- Senior Logan Bravo went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. He hit his second homer of the year and sixth double of the season.
- Junior Jake Berger finished 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. He notched his third homer of the season.
- Junior right-handed pitcher Jay Driver threw 6.1 innings in the start, allowing one run on four hits and four walks with six strikeouts. He has tallied six or more strikeouts in each of his last four starts.
- Senior Will Jacobsen posted two hits and a walk, and senior Zach Brown registered two hits. Four Crimson recorded multi-hit games on the day.
- Senior left-hander Harrison Stovern tossed 2.2 innings in relief, permitting one run on three hits and one walk.
- Junior Chris Clark closed the game, throwing 1.0 inning and giving up no runs on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.
How It Happened
- Penn plated the game's first run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first.
- The Crimson threatened in the top of the second, putting runners on second and third with one out before the Quakers escaped the jam.
- Harvard then loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the third prior to Penn closing the frame.
- Driver continued to keep the Quakers off the board, tallying a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the fifth.
- Stovern came on in relief in the last of the seventh, inducing a pair of groundouts to keep the visitors within 1-0.
- The Crimson took the lead in the top of the eighth as Berger launched his two-run home run to right field to put Harvard up, 2-1. After Bravo started the inning with a lead-off, infield single, Berger followed with his third homer of the season.
- Penn tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth with a ground ball.
- In the top of the 10th, Bravo gave Harvard back the lead at 3-2 with a solo homer to right center field.
