CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Women's Rugby team claimed the Championship Cup for the second year in a row at today's Crimson 7s Tournament at Mignone Field.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Pk Vincze led the first Crimson 7s Toy Drive during today's tournament that received over 100 toys to support the children at Mass General Hospital in Boston.
- The No. 1-seed Harvard A team went undefeated (4-0) today and claimed the Crimson 7s Championship Cup after beating Brown in an Ivy League Cup final match-up (14-7).
- First-year Lennox London tallied 55 points from 11 tries over the four matches. In the first game against AIC, Lennox landed her first hat trick of the day, and had five tries in a row during the second pool play match against Princeton.
- A few players notched tries and conversions for the first time in 2022-23, starting with junior captain Elianne Sacher scoring back-to-back tries in the plate play-in match against Northeastern. Kade Kelsch, Carly Lehman, Olyvia Synder each landed one try. Skylar Jordan successfully kicked four conversions, earning eight points.
What To Know
- Seven teams came to compete in the seventh annual Crimson 7s tournament hosted by the HWR team.
- Brown, Princeton, Quinnipiac, American International College (AIC), Sacred Heart, Northeastern, and Long Island University (LIU) were all on hand to compete.
- The tournament followed a round-robin pool play with three teams in each pool. In pool play, each team played against the other. Top two seeds from each pool advanced to the playoffs for a single elimination contest. The first round of playoffs was the plate play-in match that acted as a quarterfinal for the plate cup, and was followed by the semifinals and finals.
