ITHACA, N.Y. – No. 72 Harvard women's tennis (11-8, 3-1 Ivy) swept Cornell (4-14, 0-4 Ivy) 4-0 on the road on Saturday, April 15. The win marks the Crimson's fourth win in their last five matches. With a 3-1 Ivy League record, the Crimson are currently tied for second in the Ivy League standings.
Starting in doubles, Harvard's
Angel You and
Charlotte Owensby earned a 7-5 victory over Cornell's duo of Emma Baker and Gia Graziano in the three position. In the two spot, Harvard's
Sophia Ho and
Maxi Duncan's battle against Cornell's Lan Mi and Lauren Stein was neck and neck. Down to the final set, Ho and Duncan would pull away 7-3, earning the doubles victory and giving the doubles point to the Crimson.
Harvard's momentum from doubles would carry over into singles.
Angel You earned her seventh victory of the Spring season, defeating Cornell's Alexandra Savu 6-2, 6-4 in the four spot.
Sany Gawande also impressed in the match, defeating Cornell's Gia Graziano 6-2, 6-3 in the six position. Competing in the five spot,
Iveta Daujotaite secured the win for the Crimson by defeating Cornell's Fatima El Ashram 6-1, 6-4.
