CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 15 Harvard Men's Tennis (16-5, 4-0 Ivy) downed No. 36 Cornell (14-5, 1-2 Ivy) in commanding fashion this afternoon, sweeping the Big Red, 4-0.
The Crimson began the day up 1-0 after dominating in doubles play. The duos of
Daniel Milavsky and
Harris Walker and
Ronan Jachuck and
Steven Sun continue their hot streaks in doubles play. Milavsky and Walker picked up the first victory winning 6-2 at the No. 1 position followied closely by Jachuck and Sun's 6-3 win to conclude doubles.
Harvard never let up as they moved into singles play. Jachuck moved through his match at the No. 3 position with ease, only falling in two games throughout his straight set win. Finishing shortly after, Walker nearly mirrored Jachuck's results, defeating Vladislav Melnic (Cornell) 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 position.
With three matches outstanding,
Valdemar Pape sealed the Crimson victory with a win at the No. 6 position, completing Harvard's sweep. The first-year dominated the first set, 6-1, and then faced tiebreakers in the second. With the set tied at 6-6, Pape powered through tiebreakers, winning 7-1 to defeat Aman Sharma (Cornell) and clinch the match.
Harvard Highlights
- All of the Crimson singles victories were won in commanding straight set fashion.
- Harvard's duos have been unstoppable this season. The squad has began the last seven matches by winning the doubles point.
- After a few matches away, Jachuck and Sun returned to the court as doubles partners and picked up right where they left off. With the win, the duo moves to 14-3 for the spring season.
- Milavsky and Walker continue to roll through opponents, picking up their eighth win of the year this afternoon. The duo, who first broke into the rankings last week, now sit as the No. 60 nationally ranked pairing.
- Jachuck reentered the ITA Division I Men's Collegiate Tennis Singles Rankings this past week earning the No. 115 spot. The junior looked dominant today as he moved to 8-6.
- Walker continues to lead the squad in singles play, improving to 13-5 for the spring and 26-12 overall for his senior campaign.
- Pape continues his phenomenal start to his collegiate career as he sits closely behind Walker in doubles wins with a record of 11-4.

The Crimson will compete for the final time on their home courts this regular season tomorrow, April 16, as they welcome No. 11 Columbia. Harvard will look to avenge their ECAC finals loss to the Lions as they battle for the top spot in the Ivy League standings.
