Harvard Never Trails in 6-5 Victory Over Providence

CAMBRIDGE, Mass -The Harvard Crimson (22-12-1) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 6-5 win against the Providence Friars (12-24) on Tuesday. This brings the all-time series to 15-23-1, led by the Friars. 

Sophomore Katie Arrambide (6-2) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Harvard (22-12-1). The right-hander went one inning, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on four hits, allowing no walks and striking out two. Senior Lindsay Poulos also made an impact in the circle for the Crimson, starting the ballgame and throwing two scoreless innings while allowing no hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.

In the batter's box, the Crimson were paced by junior Allison O'Heany, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and three RBI. Senior Allison Heffley put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Junior Lauren Bobowski also chipped in for Harvard, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

How it Happened

The Crimson got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Harvard scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of O'Heany.

The Friars then tied the ballgame at two before the Crimson came back to reclaim their advantage in the fifth inning. Harvard put up a three spot, highlighted by a run-scoring double off the bat of Heffley, which brought the Crimson lead to 5-2.

Providence fought back to tie the ballgame at five before Harvard reclaimed a 6-5 advantage in the sixth inning. The Crimson scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Bobowski. The score remained 6-5 for the rest of the game, as Harvard held on for the win.

• Harvard pitchers faced 32 Providence hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out four.
